Accounts Supervisor / Manager

Location: Godalming, SurreySalary: £45,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)Contract: Full-time, permanent

An established and forward-thinking accountancy firm in Godalming is looking to appoint a confident and capable Accounts Supervisor or Manager to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice professional who enjoys reviewing accounts, mentoring junior staff, and delivering a high standard of service to a varied client base.

Working with a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and larger corporate clients, you’ll play a key role in the smooth delivery of compliance services, team supervision, and client management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting a team of junior and part-qualified accountants

  • Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns prepared by junior staff

  • Preparing complex accounts and overseeing year-end processes for larger or technically demanding clients

  • Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with current accounting standards and tax regulations

  • Providing feedback, training and development to team members

  • Acting as a point of contact for client queries, building strong long-term relationships

  • Supporting partners with workflow planning, billing, and managing deadlines

What We’re Looking For:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)

  • Solid experience within a UK accountancy practice (ideally 5+ years)

  • Previous experience reviewing junior work and leading teams is essential

  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and accounting standards

  • Confident communicator, capable of managing client relationships professionally

  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and relevant accounts production tools
