Prospero Teaching is expanding its team of passionate and skilled Tutors to support a growing number of young learners who thrive in a 1:1 learning environment. We are currently working with children and young people who require alternative provision across a wide age range-from EYFS to Post-16.

You will provide tailored 1:1 support to learners who may have a range of additional needs including:

  • SEN (Special Educational Needs)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
  • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
  • Anxiety
  • At risk of PEX (Permanent Exclusion)

Each learner is unique, and your role will be to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning experience that meets their individual needs.



We Welcome Applications From Professionals With Experience In:

  • Nurseries / EYFS settings
  • Primary and Secondary schools
  • Colleges and Post-16 education
  • Alternative provision and specialist settings

As a Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 sessions in line with the learner's age, ability, and needs
  • Support academic progress and emotional wellbeing
  • Use strategies to manage behaviour and reduce barriers to learning
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with learners and their families
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
  • Work collaboratively with Prospero Teaching and other professionals involved in the learner's care

About you:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience working within UK schools
  • Are confident in planning and delivering creative, learner-centred sessions
    • Proven experience supporting learners with:
      • SEN (Special Educational Needs)
      • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
      • EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
      • Complex additional needs
    • A nurturing, adaptable, and student-centred approach

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
      • Trauma informed- desirable

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
