Prospero Teaching is expanding its team of passionate and skilled Tutors to support a growing number of young learners who thrive in a 1:1 learning environment. We are currently working with children and young people who require alternative provision across a wide age range-from EYFS to Post-16.
You will provide tailored 1:1 support to learners who may have a range of additional needs including:
- SEN (Special Educational Needs)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
- Anxiety
- At risk of PEX (Permanent Exclusion)
Each learner is unique, and your role will be to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning experience that meets their individual needs.
We Welcome Applications From Professionals With Experience In:
- Nurseries / EYFS settings
- Primary and Secondary schools
- Colleges and Post-16 education
- Alternative provision and specialist settings
As a Tutor, you will:
- Deliver personalised 1:1 sessions in line with the learner's age, ability, and needs
- Support academic progress and emotional wellbeing
- Use strategies to manage behaviour and reduce barriers to learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships with learners and their families
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
- Work collaboratively with Prospero Teaching and other professionals involved in the learner's care
About you:
- Have at least 1 year of experience working within UK schools
- Are confident in planning and delivering creative, learner-centred sessions
- Proven experience supporting learners with:
- SEN (Special Educational Needs)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
- EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
- Complex additional needs
- A nurturing, adaptable, and student-centred approach

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
- Trauma informed- desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
