Role: Community Development Worker
Based: Lincolnshire
Rate: £24,680pa
Start Date: ASAP – May 2025
Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2026 (with possibility of extension)
Hours: 35 Hours (Primarily Monday to Friday with occasional weekend/ evening work)
Our client, a National Charity specialising in working with vulnerable children and families, is looking to recruit a Community Development Officer to engage families across North and South Kesteven and to identify their needs, available services and gaps in service provision.
This is a home based role with regular work in the community and travel across the North and South Kesteven.
What will you be doing?
The role is part of the Family Hub Initiative which aims to join up and enhance services delivered through transformed family hubs in local authority areas, ensuring all families can access the support they need.
You will be responsible for engaging families across North and South Kesteven with children aged 0-5 years in order to identify their needs and service requirements. This will include targeted work engaging and encouraging involvement from hard to reach communities including Farming Communities, Armed Forces, Single Fathers and BAMER families.
You will be working with partners, services and agencies across the area in order to understand existing services and provisions and identify gaps in service provisions/ services needed to met the needs of local families.
You will be conducting a needs analysis of services available for 5-19 year olds in the area and submitting a report with your findings.
You will be responsible for working to engage the community and develop and improve assessability to community services.
What are they looking for?
- Experience of engaging people within the community, within services and/ or at other events (particularly hard to reach communities)
- Experience within community development would be highly beneficial
- Strong communication and networking skills and the confidence and ability to speak to and engage member of the public (both 121 and at events)
- Strong diary and time management skills
- Must have a UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
