Hours/Contact:

You will be asked to attend the college based in Thurrock once a month (7.5 hours per day) to carry out this position.

Role Purpose

To provide effective internal quality assurance for Carpentry and Joinery qualifications, ensuring that assessment practices are consistent, fair, and meet awarding body and regulatory requirements. The role supports high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment, while maintaining compliance with internal and external quality frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the internal quality assurance of Carpentry and Joinery programmes, ensuring assessments are valid, reliable, and consistent.

  • Support assessors with standardisation, providing constructive feedback and guidance to improve assessment practice.

  • Sample learner evidence in line with awarding body requirements and organisational policies.

  • Monitor assessment decisions to ensure compliance with qualification standards, regulatory frameworks, and funding requirements.

  • Contribute to curriculum development by identifying opportunities for improvement in assessment and verification processes.

  • Organise and lead standardisation meetings and training for assessors to share good practice.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date IQA records for audits, external quality assurance visits, and internal reporting.

  • Support continuous improvement of teaching, learning, and assessment by working closely with curriculum managers and delivery teams.

  • Act as the main contact point for external verifiers/quality assurers during visits.

  • Ensure equality, diversity, and inclusivity are embedded within assessment and quality assurance practices.
