World- leading industrial gases and engineering companyurgently require a Cylinder Operations Manager for their multimillion-pound process site in Immingham.

The successful candidate will lead the Cylinder Operations Department, including cylinder preparation, testing, and the Dissolved Acetylene Hub, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and efficiency goals. You will manage a team of four new supervisors and have strong influencing skills and the ability to inspire others. (Good coaching and mentoring skills etc).

Duties

  • Lead the Cylinder Operations Department, including cylinder preparation, testing, and the Dissolved Acetylene Hub, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and efficiency goals
  • Ensure compliance with accredited standards, including ISO 17020, and maintain UKAS and Notified Body certifications through successful audits
  • Drive operational excellence by managing resources effectively and delivering exceptional service levels while meeting financial and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) benchmarks
  • Oversee cylinder and drum tank preparation processes, ensuring accuracy within the cylinder tracking system and compliance with required standards
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment by supporting the development of employees through training, upskilling, and competency programs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to optimize departmental performance.
  • Manage off-site storage and third-party locations, ensuring efficient coordination of cylinder packages and maintaining stock accuracy
  • Actively seek process improvements by implementing best practices and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Serve as a key member of the Branch Management Team, contributing to strategic objectives and responding to emergency needs as a Duty Manager.

Requirements

  • A degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or substantial experience (5+ years) in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in technical and operational leadership
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, fostering collaboration and motivating individuals to achieve performance goals
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, with knowledge of materials such as steel and aluminium used in manufacturing and operations
  • Proficiency in computer systems and tools, including Microsoft 365, to drive efficiency and support workflow management
  • Committed to working with integrity, actively modelling inclusive behaviours that contribute to a respectful, diverse, and welcoming workplace environment
