These are full-time roles running for the entire academic year, offering a direct pathway into a career that truly changes lives.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in an SEMH setting, you'll provide crucial one-on-one and small group support to students with complex needs. Your role is designed to be immersive, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the school environment. On-the-job training is a key part of this opportunity, ensuring you have the skills and confidence to succeed. As a valued member of the Tradewind team, you'll also gain free access to every course on the National College after your first day, empowering you to continuously develop your expertise.

No prior experience in an SEMH setting is required, but we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate immense patience, resilience, and a naturally nurturing approach.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Support Student Well-being: Provide crucial one-on-one and small group support to students with complex SEMH needs, helping to manage challenging behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.

  • Assist with Learning: Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities and interventions that help students overcome barriers to learning.

  • Build Positive Relationships: Foster strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, acting as a reliable and compassionate figure within the school community.

  • Demonstrate Resilience: Be adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed in challenging situations.

  • Maintain Records: Assist with tracking student progress and behaviour, contributing to regular reports and reviews.

  • Collaborate Effectively: Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and school events to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student welfare and education.
