We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of a fast-paced, multi-entity business. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and, critically, a strong background in managing and developing staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of accurate monthly accounts, statutory compliance, VAT and tax submissions, and managing financial reporting cycles. The role involves close collaboration with various internal teams and requires a high degree of ownership over financial controls and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the finance team, conducting regular 1-to-1s, managing workload distribution, and fostering professional development.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset journals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date asset registers and oversee reconciliations for key balance sheet items.
  • Manage the sales ledger process and ensure consistency across internal systems.
  • Oversee VAT returns, payroll journals, and cash flow reporting across multiple business units.
  • Produce timely and insightful management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and tax estimates.
  • Coordinate audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
  • Ensure financial integrity across claims and other key reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a financial management role with responsibility for supervising or developing staff.
  • ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (qualified or part-qualified considered).
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 200) and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within a multi-entity or operationally complex business is an advantage.

Benefits:

  • Our client is paying up to £58k
  • 25 Days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Profit Related Bonus Scheme
  • Hours 8.00 am to 5.00 pm (with some flexibility)
