Head of Finance (Finance Manager), £60 - £70k + good benefits, nr Guildford

We’re working with a fast-growing tech business to recruit a qualified Head of Finance. As part of the senior leadership team, this pivotal role involves overseeing all financial operations, strategic financial planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be an experienced finance professional with a commercial mindset and a strong operational understanding, ready to drive sustainable growth. This is a full-time, permanent, office-based role so candidates will need to live in a reasonable commuting area of the office.

Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the SLT, day-to-day duties include:

Financial Strategy & Leadership:

  • Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.
  • Provide strategic financial input to the Board and senior management, supporting key decisions and investments.
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls, systems, and policies.

Operational Finance:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash flow management, and treasury functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Monitor key financial KPIs and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including tax, audit, and financial regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, HMRC, banks, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks and maintain an effective internal control environment.

Commercial Support:

  • Work with commercial and procurement teams to evaluate contracts, pricing, and business cases.
  • Provide financial analysis to support product launches, supply chain decisions, and new business tender opportunities.
  • Support the company’s Eco plan by analysing cost-saving and efficiency opportunities across fleet and logistics.

Team Management:

  • Manage and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and financial awareness across the wider organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (ideally).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting strategic decision making.
  • Advanced Excel, ideally with financial modelling skills.
  • Knowledge of financial systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of UK financial regulations and tax legislation.
