Payroll Manager - About The Role

In this role you will be solely responsible for running the Payroll function and will be reporting into the Head of Finance. You will be working with the outsourced payroll provider and there is potential to move the entire payroll function in house. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Managing the outsourced contract for payroll and pensions including ensuring all processes are undertaken in line with finance policy.
  • Create and maintain payroll procedures and guidance for the organisation
  • Ensuring full accuracy in pay calculation in relation to starters, leavers and any contract changes.
  • Liaise with the payroll provider to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements of PAYE.
  • Ensure payroll journal data provided to finance teams on a monthly basis is timely and accurate.
  • Develop and oversee a payroll service desk for staff queries.
  • Support the Head of Finance & HR with contract management and future tenders.
  • Creating payroll policies and procedures from scratch.
  • Lead on exploring possible new schemes and benefits for staff.

The successful Payroll Manager will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • CIPP qualified or qualified by experience
  • Extensive payroll background and experience in building out a function
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
