About the Role
Staunton Farm is a busy visitor attraction located in the heart of Havant. It sits on the historic Staunton estate, which features beautifully landscaped parkland, our ornamental gardens, tropical glasshouse, and the farm itself. As a Visitor Services Assistant you will be on the front line of our farm, welcoming visitors and providing them with a high-quality visitor experience that will encourage them to return to the farm again and again.
As such the role will be varied with the purpose of optimising opportunities to generate income and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure, with the aim of making it one of the best places to visit and work. A significant part of the role will be customer facing and you will be working as part of the Visitor Services team to ensure our services meet visitor's expectations and they get the most out of their visit to the farm. You will work in our gift shop and farm shop, connecting visitors with what's on at the farm, handling admissions, selling local produce and dealing with membership, school, and seasonal event enquiries.
Communication will be key to this role from face-to-face contact with visitors to the telephone and online. There are also key administrative and food safety tasks that will need to be completed within this role to ensure compliance and the smooth running of the business and you'll have relevant experience in a similar role in retail, working with the public and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Being versatile and flexible with a good knowledge of the local community and environment will be a considerable advantage and could increase the opportunities to work with other teams within the farm. Finally, you will be enthusiastic, inspiring and be able to work under pressure within a small team and on your own initiative.
Role Responsibilities
- To welcome all visitors to the park and provide necessary information, including the wider area.
- To engage with visitors, offering them advice and actively promote membership, upsell products and participation in events.
- To provide consistent brilliant service to our visitors that ensures their expectations are exceeded and respond courteously and appropriately to visitor enquiries and feedback.
- To maintain a high level of personal presentation standards at all times.
- To comply with the Farm's safety policy and any other policies set out to ensure the safety and welfare of visitors, staff, and volunteers.
- To operate a till accurately and reconciling cash and credit cards at the end of the day.
- To collaborate and work cooperatively in a high performing team to meet the needs of the business and our visitors.
- To monitor stock levels and maintain excellent display standards and ensure all retail areas are well presented at all times.
- To maintain excellent standards of presentation in the retail area, high housekeeping and cleanliness levels by completing cleaning tasks in all areas
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Have excellent customer service skills and experience of interacting with the public.
- Money handling, taking payments of cash and credit cards.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ensures the correct application of health & safety, related policies, and regulations.
- Familiar with IT applications (Microsoft 365)
- Experience of working in a fast-paced customer environment
Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- GCSE's (English & Maths) or equivalent
- Experience in a similar role and / or environment
Working Conditions:
- Manual handling: lifting and moving objects.
- Regular use of display screen equipment (Desktop PC)
- Work environment: lone working at times
- Ability to use stairs and to work in historic buildings, some of which have low ceilings and uneven floors.
