Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Maths and English Tutor to support a young learner transitioning into Year 10 in the Havant area. This role is for 6 hours per week, focusing on Functional Skills Maths and English, with the aim of building both academic ability and personal confidence.
As a Tutor you will:
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons tailored to the learner's needs.
- Support the development of core Maths and English skills aligned with Functional Skills standards.
- Instil confidence, motivation, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Create a safe, patient, and encouraging learning environment.
- Monitor progress and adapt lesson plans accordingly.
About you:
- Experience tutoring or teaching Maths and English (Functional Skills or KS3/KS4 level).
- Ability to design creative and learner-focused lesson plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A nurturing, patient, and positive approach to education.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
