Are you AAT (or equivalent) qualified Bookkeeper? Do you have experience working in practice-past or present?  Are you looking to work for an independent business, a supportive and close team united in the pursuit of providing a high calibre service?

Answer YES to all of these questions and read on.

The company –

A reputable, proudly independent accountancy practice in a pleasant location just outside of Cambridge, away from the hustle (and hassle!) of the city centre traffic with easy links to surrounding motorways and close to public transport as well as free parking.

The team has grown over the years to a comfortable size, big enough to meet their clients’ requirements and offer progression, but small enough so that you won’t feel like “just another number”.

The role –

Reed Practice have been engaged to recruit a qualified (AAT or equivalent) Bookkeeper to provide high quality bookkeeping services to a portfolio of clients, as well as for the firm itself.

Your tasks in this essential role for the firm will include:

  • Managing day-to-day bookkeeping for assigned clients and for the firm.
  • Preparing accounts up to trial balance
  • Preparing VAT returns in line with current HMRC regulations
  • Periodical reconciling bank accounts
  • Record and match payments to invoices
  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to address queries and resolve issues
  • Supporting management accounts preparation as and when necessary
  • Manage employee expense claims

This is very important part of the whole service provided to their clients.  Those with experience in the profession are very much of interest but as the firm do not work to the traditional timesheet method of billing for their work, and as the role includes an element of bookkeeping for the firm, we would also be open to discussing the vacancy with those in industry genuinely interested in working in practice.

The Bookkeeper will receive a healthy salary to show the value of the role, benefit from the firm’s flexible working policy, free parking, and more.

To apply you will -

  • Hold an AAT qualification or equivalent
  • Possess the above experience (bookkeeping, VAT returns, reconciliations and so on)  either in practice or industry
  • An understanding of how bookkeeping impacts the management accounts; an ability to analyse the P&L and balance sheet would be an extreme advantage.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally to internal and external contacts, comfortable meeting clients when required.
  • Full driving licence will be favoured for the occasions when meeting clients arises.
