Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant operations and a keen understanding of food preparation and safety. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen activities, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation, and fostering a positive team environment within our hospitality establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Manage food production processes, including portion control and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Help create new menu items and contribute to menu planning based on seasonal ingredients.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage food costs effectively.
  • Address any issues that arise during service promptly to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen management practices.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership qualities with experience in team management and staff training.
  • Passion for food and creativity in menu development is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
