Learning Support Assistant - Haywards Heath
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a well-regarded Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Haywards Heath. Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group support to students with a variety of SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD, and communication difficulties.
Assist the class teacher in delivering personalized learning by adapting materials and teaching strategies to suit individual requirements.
Collaborate with the SENCO and wider support team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student confidence, independence, and engagement.
Apply effective differentiation and behaviour management strategies to support both academic progress and emotional development.
Assist students with personal care and mobility when necessary.
Requirements
Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
A solid understanding of key SEND strategies, such as differentiation, positive behaviour support, and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
A patient, caring, and proactive approach, with a strong commitment to inclusion and student wellbeing.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
