To ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed during the refurbishment a large complex, minimizing risk to personnel, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Safety Oversight: Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, regulations, and site-specific protocols.
  • Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS):Review and advise on risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work submitted by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to UK HSE standards, MOD safety requirements, and CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
  • Incident Management:Lead investigations into near misses, accidents, and incidents; maintain accurate records and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Training & Inductions:Deliver safety inductions to new staff and contractors; provide toolbox talks and ongoing health and safety training relevant to site conditions.
  • Liaison with Stakeholders:Work closely with MOD representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to manage site safety collaboratively.
  • Documentation & Reporting:Maintain safety logs, write reports, and present findings to the project team and stakeholders as needed.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Ensure emergency procedures are in place and rehearsed regularly; coordinate with naval base safety protocols and security.
Essential Requirements:
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
  • Experience in construction or refurbishment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Security clearance (or ability to obtain MOD clearance)
