Experienced Purchase Ledger Assistant - Hemel Hempstead

We're working with a leading local business based in Hemel Hempstead that's on the lookout for an Experienced Purchase Ledger Assistant to join their team. With exciting growth plans, a brilliant team culture, and a strong reputation in their field, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

About the role:

You'll play a key role in managing a portfolio of supplier accounts, handling invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, and supplier queries, all while helping ensure the wider finance function runs smoothly. You'll need to be able to look after end-to-end accounts payable over holiday periods, so a confident, proactive approach is a must.

A typical week could include:

  • Processing and verifying a high volume of invoices
  • Supplier account reconciliations and statement reviews
  • Handling calls and emails to resolve invoice queries and negotiate credits
  • Preparing BACS payments weekly and monthly
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end tasks
  • Supporting open PO reviews and query resolutions
  • Helping to keep everything on track during busy periods or holiday cover

About you:

You'll be someone who thrives in a busy, deadline-driven environment and is confident taking ownership of your ledger. You'll be a problem solver, someone who spots errors before they happen, and knows how to build good relationships with suppliers and colleagues alike.

We're looking for:

  • At least 3 years' Purchase Ledger experience
  • Excellent Excel, Outlook and general IT skills
  • A strong communicator and natural team player
  • A proactive, organised mindset and a can-do attitude
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
