Senior Forest Manager (Hexham) Salary: £40k-£50k (depending on experience) Role Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Forest Manager to oversee and manage a wide range of forestry projects across two locations: Perth and Hexham. This role will see you working with a diverse client base in the management of large-scale commercial and estate forestry, including woodland creation, maintenance, and enhancement initiatives. You will take responsibility for managing over 30,000 hectares of woodland, coordinating multiple operations, and ensuring the projects are completed within time and budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and sustainability. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of forestry operations, including the planning and delivery of woodland creation, restocking, and management projects.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of forestry professionals and contractors, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and in line with company and industry standards.
- Oversee the preparation of long-term woodland management plans, ensuring they meet environmental regulations and deliver sustainable outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK Forestry Standards (FGS) and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, submit, and manage the necessary consents, licenses, and grant applications for various forestry operations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their objectives, providing updates on project progress, and addressing any concerns or queries they may have.
- Use GIS applications to map, track, and analyse forestry data to support project planning and reporting. Key Requirements:
- Ideally, you will hold ICF (Institute of Chartered Foresters) membership and have a strong understanding of the UK Forestry Standard (FGS).
- Significant experience in managing forestry and woodland operations, ideally across both commercial and estate forestry sectors.
- Proven experience with GIS and woodland management software to effectively manage and report on project progress.
- A strong problem-solver with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from clients to contractors.
- Full UK driving license is essential, as travel across the region will be required.
