Rochdale Council is seeking a skilled General Driver/Grounds Maintenance Worker, specialising in the operation of plant machinery, particularly tractors. This role is ideal for someone experienced in landscape construction and maintenance, capable of enhancing the local environment through various projects.
Day-to-day of the role:- Operate tractors and various attachments for different maintenance and construction tasks.
- Undertake both soft and hard landscape construction projects, including rotavating, levelling, block paving, and brick laying.
- Participate in tree and shrub identification for planting schemes.
- Construct paving, kerb edging, and tarmac surfacing.
- Prepare sites from plans, including measuring, setting out, and interpreting levels and design details.
- Assemble prefabricated items according to accurate installation details following manufacturers' recommendations.
- Drive as required, including performing vehicle checks, cleaning, and transporting goods and personnel.
- Manage the correct loading and unloading of materials, ensuring compliance with weight limits.
- Experience with plant machinery, especially tractors.
- Proficient in various landscaping tasks including paving, brick laying, and more.
- Ability to work from plans and perform precise site preparation.
- HGV Class 2 Licence is essential.
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance regulations related to transportation and construction.
