This position offers a great opportunity to work closely with cutting-edge hardware used in research institutions and high-tech industries worldwide.What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Designing and developing HV (high vacuum) and UHV (ultra-high vacuum) deposition systems
  • Assembling, testing, and optimising hardware for performance and reliability
  • Supporting customer system installations, occasionally on-site in the UK and internationally
  • Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and control systems engineers to implement improvements and custom configurations
  • Troubleshooting and refining prototypes to enhance usability and system functionality
  • Providing technical documentation and contributing to design iterations based on real-world performance
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience with vacuum technologies, PVD systems, or similar instrumentation
  • Background in mechanical engineering, electronics, physics, or related technical field
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to prototyping and assembly
  • Familiarity with CAD, control systems (e.g. LabVIEW or PLC), or electronics is an advantage
  • Ability to work on-site as part of a small, agile engineering team
  • Clear communication skills and a practical mindset
