Supply Desk is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and skilled Design and Technology Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Watford from September. This full-time role offers a fantastic opportunity to inspire students in the areas of design, engineering, and practical creativity within a supportive and forward-thinking department.
The school is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engaging D&T lessons that develop students' technical skills, creativity, and understanding of real-world applications.
Job Description:
- Plan and deliver dynamic lessons across the Design and Technology curriculum, including areas such as product design, resistant materials, and CAD/CAM.
- Encourage practical problem-solving and innovative thinking through hands-on projects and technical challenges.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
- Promote a safe and productive workshop environment, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Contribute to curriculum development and resource planning within the department.
- Support students in extra-curricular activities, competitions, or design projects where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members and contribute to wider school initiatives and events.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or be a newly qualified teacher with specialism in Design and Technology.
- Have experience teaching Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable but not essential).
- Be confident in delivering a range of D&T topics and working with both traditional and digital tools.
- Be enthusiastic, innovative, and committed to raising achievement in technical education.
- Have strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and a team player.
- Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
