Our long term client based in Horsham are looking for a Part Time Mechanical Workshop Engineer - 3 days a week - 22.5 hours - the salary is pro rata of £30000 - £35000. Good company benefits. Parking available and close to rail/bus routes.

They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for disassembling, repairing, assembling, and testing mechanical components—especially those involving hydraulic and pneumatic systems. A strong understanding of material selection, functional testing, and quality compliance is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble mechanical components to assess damage and identify repair requirements.
  • Determine appropriate materials and methods to be used during the repair process.
  • Perform repairs according to approved Repair Instructions and Component Maintenance Manuals
    • Conduct functional testing of components, with a focus on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • Reassemble components after repair or overhaul, ensuring compliance with specifications.
    • Execute "Reduce to Produce" activities to support component recovery and cost efficiency.
      • Maintain and report operational data daily, weekly, and monthly as required.
      • Manage the calibration process for tools and equipment in accordance with quality standards.
      • Apply strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical failures and suggest improvements.
      • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards across all activities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and components.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems and testing protocols.
    • Solid understanding of mechanical repairs, material selection, and calibration processes.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
    • Experience in a regulated industry (aviation, automotive, etc.) is preferred.
