Your Opportunity:
A leading FM organisation is seeking a skilled and proactive Air Conditioning Engineer to join their team in West Yorkshire. This is an excellent permanent opportunity to manage the efficient operation and maintenance of diverse AC/HVAC systems in commercial buildings. Your responsibilities will include conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to reactive maintenance calls, performing detailed diagnostics, and resolving faults on a variety of HVAC equipment. You'll also contribute to general site maintenance with basic plumbing and drain clearing tasks, supporting the wider maintenance team. Participation in an on-call rota is a requirement, and accurate, timely completion of all job-related documentation is essential.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Executing scheduled PPM tasks in line with SFG20 guidelines.
- Carrying out reactive maintenance and repairs on electrical and air conditioning systems.
- Completing minor installation works and ensuring all necessary certifications are in place.
- Attending relevant site meetings and training sessions.
- Proactively managing tasks and identifying potential issues on site.
- Procuring necessary materials and equipment through established channels.
- Being available for overtime work when required, with additional compensation.
- Participating in a remunerated call-out rota.
- Effectively utilising and adhering to mobile technology (Smartphone) protocols for work management.
- Upholding and promoting the company's mission, vision, and values.
- Assisting the site team in ensuring compliance with all Statutory and Legislative requirements.
- Strictly adhering to client operational procedures at all times.
- Obtaining the necessary permissions for accessing restricted areas on client sites.
- Completing thorough risk assessments and job worksheets, securing client authorisation.
What We're Looking For:
- Desirable: Experience in the maintenance, testing, and fault-finding of HVAC systems and lighting.
- Essential Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Specific Qualifications (Non F-Gas):
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning and Small Refrigeration.
- City & Guilds Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (7189) Level 2 or 3.
- City & Guilds Refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems (6090) Level 3 only.
- Essential: F-Gas Category 1 certification (City & Guilds 2079, formerly 2078 Safe Handling of Refrigerants).
- Essential: Proven experience (likely 5+ years) in a dedicated Air Con service role (not installation-focused).
- Preferable: Experience with packaged units and air handling equipment, as well as split-type systems.
- Essential: Experience working with commercial AC/HVAC equipment (not domestic installations).
- Essential: City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2.
- Essential: BS7671 Electrical Regulations certification.
- Desirable: City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a comprehensive range of maintenance and installation tasks within the contract scope.
- A proactive approach with strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent record-keeping skills, both written and digital.
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional presentation and adherence to company uniform and PPE policies.
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Sound understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and building Statutory Compliance.
- Physical capability to lift and carry equipment up to 20kg and work at height safely.
- A dedication to providing excellent customer service.
- Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rota.
- A full UK driving licence.
