We are currently recruiting Passenger Assistants to join the team, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) during their school commutes. This role is crucial in ensuring safe and compassionate travel for children to and from school.
Day-to-day of the role:- Supporting SEND children during their journeys to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
- Ensuring safe handover of children to schools or parents.
- Participating in mandatory training sessions including First Aid, Manual Handling, and SEND awareness to better support the specific needs of children, including administering medication and EpiPens.
- Maintaining a high level of sensitivity and compassion throughout the journey, catering to high-needs and complex cases.
- Essential:
- Effective communication skills with children, parents, and school staff.
- High level of compassion and clear communication, particularly with SEND children.
- Sensitivity to a range of disabilities and special needs.
- Patience and consistency to provide a stable presence for the children.
- Desirable/Transferable:
- Previous experience in a care or SEND-related role is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Competitive hourly rate of £12.85.
- Unique convenience of being picked up and dropped off at your own home.
- Comprehensive training provided in relevant areas to enhance your ability to support SEND children effectively.
- Approximate start time: 7:30 AM
- Approximate finish time: 6:00 PM (including a break during the day)
- Total working hours: 6 hours per day
- Note: The exact start and end times may vary as routes are still being planned. The role will follow school pick-up and drop-off times, meaning split shifts will apply.
