A Secondary school in Redbridge is looking for Governance professional to join asap. (This is a term time only role, 36hrs pw (46.8) weeks per year) You will be working with the CEO, COO and the Trust Executive. This role requires an extremely organised and self-driven individual who will provide support to the organisation. This will include administration and guidance to the governing board on governance and all matters in relation to staff, pupils and any other relevant committees. You will need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks and all matters around potential consequences.

Job Responsibilities

• Inform the governing board on governance legislation and procedural matters where necessary before, during and after meetings.

• Manage a policy tracker to ensure that statutory policies are in place, and that the Trust Executive revise these when necessary for Board ratification

• Induct new governors on board and liaise with the HR function as required, ensuring they complete all training required

• Inform the Board on best practice in governance, including on committee structures both at board and academy level

• Work with the Chair, Committee Chairs, Local Governing Bodies (LGB) Chairs and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), prepare a focused agenda for Board and committee meetings

• Maintain up to date records of the names, addresses and category of governing board members and their term of office, and inform the governing board and any relevant authorities of any changes to its membership.

• Be able to build and maintain positive relationships and manage and support individuals with the required training following skills audits. • Prepare briefing papers for the Board, as necessary.

Preferred Skills:

• A minimum of grade C or above in English & Maths

• Excellent IT skills and proficient in the use of email and databases

• Knowledge and experience of this role or a similar

• Great organisational skills including the set up and management of meetings

• Good written English and effective communication skills
