About the Role:

We are working on behalf of a leading gas infrastructure contractor seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Project Manager to join their in-house team based at head office in Ilkeston.

This is a pivotal role managing a wide range of mechanical and civil infrastructure projects for major gas distribution clients including SGN, Cadent Gas, and the British Pipeline Agency. Projects span across the UK and involve high-pressure gas environments, AGI upgrades, pre-heating systems, pipework, and complex civil engineering solutions.

You will be responsible for delivering projects from mobilisation through to final commissioning, ensuring safe, timely, and compliant execution in line with both client and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects across mechanical, civil, and electrical disciplines.
  • Oversee all phases including procurement, site mobilisation, execution, handover, and decommissioning.
  • Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and internal departments to ensure project targets are achieved.
  • Maintain strict adherence to CDM regulations, SCO, SW1/SW2 protocols, and Permit to Work systems.
  • Support and monitor the performance of E&I subcontractors and oversee welding/fabrication works in live gas environments.
  • Review project drawings, ensure technical compliance, and manage change where required.
  • Take ownership of project reporting, programme updates, cost control, and client liaison.

Key Experience Required:

  • Proven background in managing gas infrastructure, mechanical build, or civils-heavy projects in the utilities sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of high-pressure gas systems, pipeline projects, AGI operations, or modular heat exchanger/boiler installations.
  • Experience delivering projects in line with SGN, Cadent, BPA, or similar utility specifications and safety procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of NRO procedures, SCO competencies, CDM 2015, and SW1/SW2 regulations.
  • Skilled in stakeholder coordination, team leadership, site-based project delivery, and commercial awareness.

What We Offer:

  • A secure, full-time opportunity in a well-established business with an excellent reputation in the gas infrastructure sector.
  • Exposure to technically complex, large-scale projects across the UK.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for progression.
  • Competitive salary package (DOE), plus benefits.
