The role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to support our client within the finance team. The ideal candidate will assist in managing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. This role is crucial in maintaining clear financial records and supporting the broader finance function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining organised and accurate financial records, both digital and physical
  • Assisting with a variety of administrative tasks to keep the accounting department running smoothly
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and invoices
  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and reconciliation
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files
  • Processing invoices, both purchase and sales invoices, and ensuring they are accurate, and payments are tracked
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Raising credit notes
  • Liaise with internal departments and external vendors on financial matters
  • Support audits and financial reviews
  • Perform administrative duties as needed within the finance department

Skills required:

  • Must have previously worked within an Accounts Assistant role
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable
  • Experience in Credit Control
  • High level of customer service and confidence to deal with difficult situations
  • Proven experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Unit 4 or similar)
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
