Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Finance Manager to oversee our client's financial operations and support the organisation’s long-term financial sustainability. This role is central to driving financial planning, maintaining strong internal controls, and managing the approval of payments and expenditures. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of analytical expertise and commercial acumen to help shape financial decision-making and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Financial Planning:Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s objectives. Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting:Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis with clear, actionable insights.

  • Payment Oversight & Authorisation:Review and authorise high-value payments, supplier invoices, and staff expense claims in line with internal policies and financial controls.

  • Cash Flow Management:Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the organisation maintains a strong liquidity position. Forecast future cash requirements and optimise working capital.

  • Financial Reporting:Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Internal Controls & Compliance:Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, financial regulations, and internal procedures.

  • Team Leadership:Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with operational goals. Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

Person Specification:
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (Master’s or professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a financial management role
  • Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations and accounting standards
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in financial systems and software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle)
