Purchasing Assistant12 month Fixed Term Contract IpswichFree ParkingWorking hours 7.30am – 4pm (1 hour lunch)We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join an established business in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills, confidence working with numbers, and a solid understanding of Excel to play a vital role in supporting our procurement and stock control functions.Key Responsibilities:
  • Process purchase orders and assist in the procurement of raw materials at competitive prices
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchasing and stock records (both digital and paper-based)
  • Ensure goods-in calendar is maintained and orders are chased or expedited when required
  • Liaise daily with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries and stock availability
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of stock sheets, including monthly stock take documentation
  • Perform stock counting and spot checks, and support monthly stock reconciliations
  • Analyse daily orders to identify purchasing needs in line with production schedules
  • Support product sourcing to improve pricing, lead times, stock levels, and quality
  • Enter goods received information and verify invoice accuracy
  • Handle queries regarding faulty, missing, or incorrectly invoiced goods and process claims as needed
  • Prepare product samples for dispatch and manage supplier communications
  • Calculate costings and quotations to support purchasing decisions
 Skills & Experience Required:
  • Strong computer literacy and a high level of numerical accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including experience handling large spreadsheets
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A proactive approach with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload
