Our client, Suffolk County Council, is seeking an agency Social Worker for its Harmful Sexual Behaviour Service.

This will be a 3-month assignment initially. And the pay rate available is £34 - £37 umbrella.

The role will involve the following:

  • Providing consultations, offering advice, assessment and intervention for professionals concerned about a child’s sexual behaviour. The remit of the team is to address HSB concerns and prevent these from escalating. Hackett’s (2010) Continuum of Behaviour is used by the team to identify whether the behaviour is normal, inappropriate, problematic abusive or violent.
  • Attend threshold discussions with MASH in relation to HSB.
  • Where there is evidence of ongoing HSB concerns, and where the child or young person is open to Family Support or Social Care the social worker will complete direct work with the child or young person. The HSB worker will not be case responsible but work alongside the Social Worker or Lead Professional.
  • When required, and identified by the HSB team an AIM 3 assessment may be completed by the service to identify the level of intervention required. (It is not essential that the worker is AIM 3 trained although this would be desirable).
  • The HSB team delivers presentations and awareness sessions across the county, including to Foster Carers, the University of Suffolk and schools.
  • Expectations that staff are in the office 2 days per week, Landmark House, 4 Egerton Road, Ipswich, IP1 5PB

Requirements of the role:

  • Qualified Social Worker
  • Fully Social Work England registered
  • Must have strong post-qualified experience in children’s social care
  • Must have 3 years’ post-qualified experience in direct employment of a local authority (as per DFE rules)
