Rate: £450 per day (umbrella)

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Electrical Project Engineer to play a vital role in our projects, ensuring the successful development and execution of low voltage electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.

Role Overview:

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle development of electrical systems, including the creation of designs and schematics, component selection, and software development. You will work on control system upgrades and software updates, ensuring all aspects adhere to process specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive deliverables such as specifications, instrument lists, IO schedules, cable schedules, and test procedures.
  • Maintain documentation to ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to guide project direction and integrity from a technical perspective.
  • Provide technical support to the project team, fostering skill development and motivation.
  • Conduct cable calculations and offer electrical advice for low voltage systems.
  • Ensure all stakeholders understand project requirements and expectations.
  • Estimate and monitor project tasks, costs, and resource requirements, intervening when necessary.
  • Oversee the production of project deliverables, ensuring review processes and approvals are in place.
  • Prepare and track your activities against project timelines, providing accurate reports to the Project Manager.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, assumptions, issues, and decisions (RAID) to ensure project success.
  • Assist in formal project closure, capturing lessons learned and updating project documentation.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Strong understanding of C&I-related British and international standards.
  • Experience across the full C&I project lifecycle, including documentation preparation and review.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial communication networks (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Modbus TCP).
  • Ability to specify, install, and commission instrumentation, with knowledge of ATEX - Ex instrumentation requirements.
  • Proven ability to produce technical reports and communicate complex C&I issues clearly.
  • Willingness to travel globally for meetings, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and inspections.
  • Experience in monitoring on-site activities, including installation and commissioning.
  • Mentoring skills to support less experienced engineers.
  • Capacity to innovate and implement effective processes.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage with team members and stakeholders effectively.
  • Technically astute and up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology.
