We are seeking a dedicated Male Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Kidderminster. The school supports children and young people aged 5-16 with a range of complex needs including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties
Early trauma and attachment difficulties
Anxiety and behavioural challenges
Sensory processing needs
The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide consistent, calm, and empathetic support within and beyond the classroom
Work closely with experienced teachers, SENCOs, and therapists
Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
Support pupils in building trust, emotional regulation, and social skills
Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Be a positive male role model for pupils who may lack this in other areas of life
Ideal Candidate:
Male (for role modelling purposes and to support needs of specific pupils)
Experience in SEMH, autism, or youth work is highly beneficial
Resilient, emotionally intelligent, and calm under pressure
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
Comfortable with physical intervention training or willing to be trained (e.g., Team Teach)
DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
