Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: Twickenham, London
Reporting to: Finance Manager / Head of Finance
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (9:00 am 5:30 pm)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

With a strong reputation built on integrity, professionalism, and client care, they are seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join their finance team and support the smooth running of daily financial operations.

Role Overview

The Accounts Assistant will be a key member of the finance department, responsible for supporting the team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous finance experience in a professional services or legal environment who is looking to join a reputable firm and grow within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily banking and bank reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices and preparing payment runs
  • Monitoring and reconciling client and office accounts in line with SRA Accounts Rules
  • Handling client account transactions, including payments and receipts
  • Preparing and issuing client bills under fee earner instruction
  • Credit control and assisting with debt recovery processes
  • Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
  • Liaising with fee earners and partners regarding billing and account queries
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and projects

Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role
  • Good understanding of accounting principles
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Experience in any Accounting software, e.g. Sage, Xero, Liberate, SAP etc

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with SRA Accounts Rules
  • Experience using legal accounting software (e.g., LEAP, SOS, or similar)
  • AAT qualification or working towards it
