Accounts Assistant - North West England

***Salary £24K - £28K, 20% bonus, company pension scheme, hybrid working***

Our client is an infrastructure investor looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their well regarded finance team. The finance team is at the heart of their operations, making sure accounts are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. They are looking for a detail-driven Accounts Assistant to help them maintain excellent financial standards while supporting the smooth running of the business.

The Role

You’ll provide essential support to our finance team by handling day-to-day accounting work, ensuring records are kept accurate, and assisting with month-end and year-end processes. From invoice processing to reconciling accounts and assisting with tax submissions, this role offers variety and the chance to develop your skills in multiple areas of finance.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Prepare payment runs by collating and processing approved invoices
  • Post income and expenditure accurately to customer and supplier accounts
  • Investigate and resolve payment and billing discrepancies
  • Carry out reconciliations for bank transactions, supplier statements, and key ledger accounts
  • Prepare VAT calculations, submit returns, and help manage CIS reporting obligations
  • Support the preparation of monthly management information and working schedules
  • Assist in compiling year-end records for external auditors
  • Provide general financial and administrative assistance as required to keep processes running efficiently

About You

  • Experience in a finance or accounts role is essential
  • Relevant accountancy qualification e.g. AAT is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently
  • Eager to learn and willing to take on a range of finance tasks
