Spencer Clarke Group are working in partnership with a Local Authority in the North West seeking an experienced Interim Building Surveyor to join their Property Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support the delivery of a diverse range of building-related projects across the authority, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.

Role Overview
As a key member of the Building Surveying Team, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and project management of refurbishment, maintenance, and improvement works across the Council's portfolio. You'll work across operational buildings, schools, and other community assets, collaborating closely with internal teams and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specify refurbishments and upgrades, including window replacements, roofing, fencing, flooring, decorations, and extensions in line with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Lead and manage medium-sized construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery to the required quality.
  • Support Programme Managers in delivering capital works programmes, particularly condition-led schemes.
  • Prepare and update project plans, forecasts, and status reports using the Council's project management system.

Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Building/Construction discipline OR significant vocational experience.
  • Proven experience in building design and delivery, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of building design principles in operational environments (e.g. schools, civic buildings).
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning requirements, and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience with public sector frameworks and working across a variety of operational settings.
