Be the First on the Scene — Join SP Electricity North West as a Fault Technician!

Location: Lancashire, North West Region
Salary: Competitive + Company Van + Benefits
Shift Work & Standby Rota Required

Morson Talent are proud to be working in partnership with Scotish Power Electricity North West - the region’s electricity network operator and a key player in the UK’s journey to net-zero. From powering local communities to enabling the growth of renewable energy, they’re leading the way toward a cleaner, greener future.

Looking for a role where your quick thinking and hands-on skills make an immediate difference - every single day?

At SP Electricity North West, we don’t just keep the lights on. We power communities, connect businesses, and support critical services across the region. Now, we’re looking for a Fault Technician to be the face of our frontline response team - restoring power, solving problems, and delivering exceptional customer service when it matters most.

This isn’t your average field role. As a Fault Technician, you’ll be first on site when the unexpected happens - whether it’s a power outage, a network fault, or a safety-critical issue. You’ll be hands-on with both LV and HV networks, restoring supplies, fixing faults, and making fast decisions that directly impact our customers.

And it’s not just about fixing problems - it’s about thinking ahead. You’ll work with the latest technology, support innovative trials, and help us develop smarter fault location techniques that reduce outages and improve network resilience across the North West.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responding to customer reports and unplanned outages - you’ll be the face of our service on-site.
  • Carrying out switching, fusing, linking, and deploying LV transient management equipment to restore supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Managing LV and HV faults - locating them quickly, coordinating teams and contractors, and keeping customers informed along the way.
  • Supporting transient management, including equipment deployment, retrieval, stock checks, and Bidoyng fuse changes.
  • Deploying temporary generators (2kVA & 6kVA) to get customers back on supply fast.
  • Conducting inspections on substations, pillars, and link boxes - making sure everything is in top shape.
  • Keeping safety front and centre, following all legislation and company codes of practice.
  • Providing around-the-clock cover as part of a formal shift rota, including standby duties.

What’s in it for you?

  • A competitive salary plus bonus potential
  • Company vehicle + tools + all the kit you need
  • Up to 14% employer pension contribution - one of the best in the industry
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Fantastic training and development opportunities with clear career pathways
  • Flexible benefits package - because life’s not one-size-fits-all
  • The chance to make a real difference to local communities - every single shift

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong customer service skills - you’ll be face-to-face with the people we serve
  • Electrical qualifications - ideally City & Guilds Level 2 or above
  • Proven experience working on electrical distribution networks
  • Hands-on experience with LV and HV networks
  • Solid understanding of LV and HV fault management - knowing how to respond, fix, and prevent future issues
  • Knowledge of safe working practices on electrical networks
  • Comfortable using technology in the field
  • Flexible, adaptable, and cool under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence

If you want a role where you’re not just restoring power, but restoring confidence - and if you like the idea of being part of a team that’s proud to make a real difference - this is your chance.
