Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join their Blackburn-based team on a hybrid basis. In this key role, you will take commercial ownership of multiple retail fit-out projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will also support and mentor junior surveyors and may contribute to estimating where required. This role offers strong career progression opportunities, with clear development paths over the next 12 months.



Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and managing cost estimates, budgets, valuations, and final accounts

  • Ensuring accurate financial control through timely and detailed cost reporting

  • Managing the procurement of subcontractors and materials across multiple fast-track projects

  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve commercial issues

  • Conducting on-site measurements and ensuring compliance with contractual terms

  • Delivering value engineering solutions to maximise project profitability

  • Supporting estimating functions, including cost forecasting and assessments

  • Coaching and mentoring junior and intermediate-level surveyors

  • Working across a portfolio of clients, rather than being restricted to a single project

  • Promoting best practice and contributing to continuous process improvement



What you will need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 5-6 years' experience in Quantity Surveying

  • Strong background in retail fit-out or fast-track construction projects

  • Excellent knowledge of contract law, cost management, and construction regulations

  • Proficiency in estimating and cost forecasting

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (preferred but not essential)

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision
