Electrician / Electrical Engineer - London and Surrounding Areas


An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrician / Electrical Engineer to join a leading Facilities Services provider, working across London and the surrounding areas.
Ideal candidate location: Surrey (however, candidates based anywhere in London or nearby areas and happy to travel will be considered).
This role is ideally suited to an electrically qualified engineer with strong technical knowledge and a background in commercial installations, maintenance, and fault finding. The successful candidate will work on a range of electrical systems, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, testing, and project support across client sites.
Applicants should have proven experience within commercial environments and be confident with metal containment, electrical installations, and general maintenance tasks.



Typical Projects Include:

  • Boiler room installations
  • Electrical testing & EICR's
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • LED lighting upgrades
  • PV servicing and installations
  • Electrical mains upgrades


Duties:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance to agreed timescales.
  • Perform fault finding, repairs, and testing on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Assist with minor installation and project works, ensuring compliance with current standards.
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings and technical documents.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical and other engineering teams.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance at all times while on-site.
  • Complete all paperwork, certificates, and reports accurately and on time.
  • Participate in the company's call-out rota, responding to urgent issues when required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Represent the company professionally, ensuring high standards of service delivery.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or recognised equivalent (apprenticeship, 2360 Part 1 & 2, etc.).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection or Solar PV certification (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and fault finding within commercial environments (schools, large facilities, boiler rooms, etc.).
  • Experience with metal containment systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to pass enhanced DBS checks due to school contracts.


Salary / Package:

  • Basic Salary: 40,000 - 50,000 (dependent on skillset & qualifications)
  • 20 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
  • Door-to-door paid travel
  • Company van & fuel card provided (option for private use)
  • Pension scheme & discretionary benefits
  • Standard hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (1-hour unpaid lunch)
  • Participation in call-out rota with additional payments
