Portfolio Payroll is proud to be partnering with a well-established and reputable accountancy practice located in Sheffield to recruit a Senior Payroll Specialist on a permanent basis.

As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of multiple client payrolls, while also providing a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end processing of client payrolls on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis
  • Managing payroll queries and resolving discrepancies efficiently
  • BACs payments for clients
  • Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs
  • Setting up new payroll clients
  • Setting up pension schemes, PAYE scheme closures and analysis of payroll
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements including RTI submissions and auto-enrolment
  • Processing statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP
  • Preparing payroll journals and liaising with clients' accountants as necessary
  • Assisting with year-end procedures including P60s and P11Ds
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and industry changes

Desirable skills and attributes:

  • Previous experience in client payroll (Bureau/ Practice)
  • Proficient using Brightpay
  • Confident Communicator
  • Good eye for detail, and can work with precision
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
