TP141 Commissioning Engineer
- Location: Leeds (site-based)
- Rate: £70-£80 per hour (Outside IR35) - negotiable
- Start Date: ASAP / June 2025
- Contract Length: 3 months (with likely extension)
Turner Lovell are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer, based in Leeds. The role offers the chance to lead commissioning efforts across a range of MV and HV systems up to 400kV, ensuring high-impact and technically challenging work. Working with a major EPC contractor known for a strong pipeline of future projects, this position also presents the potential for long-term engagement and career progression in a high-demand niche.

The commissioning of complex protection and control schemes including the following: Feeders, Transformers, Isolators, Fault Throwers, CTs, VTs, Differential Relays, Distance Relays, Overcurrent Relays, Earth Fault Relays, Inter-Tripping Scheme, Delayed Auto-Reclose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead TP141 commissioning activities for MV and HV systems (11kV-400kV)
- Supervise and coordinate testing with non-TP141 Test Engineer on-site
- Perform and approve primary and secondary injection tests, CT/VT validation, and interlocking checks
- Oversee protection relay testing (Siemens, ABB, GE, etc.) and SCADA integration (IEC 61850/60870-5-101/104)
- Prepare and review TP141 test packs, method statements, and commissioning documentation
- Ensure site safety compliance and interface with client engineers for final approval and energisation
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a TP141 authorised Commissioning Engineer
- Hands-on background in protection and control commissioning (11kV-400kV)
- Comfortable guiding or supervising non-TP141 testing staff to ensure work aligns with TP141 standards
- Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification
