Are you a Design Engineer with knowledge of high-speed and bespoke machinery?

We are recruiting on behalf of a Global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high-speed metal forming and finishing machinery, with an $8.5 bn turnover, a reputation for excellence and operations in 41 countries. They have proudly achieved The Queens Awards for Enterprise for their international trade, innovation andsustainable development.

The design engineer will generate assembly and component detailed drawings from CAD models, coordinate with productionengineering to optimise assembly/component Design for Manufacture and coordinate with the quality department to define incoming inspection requirements to verify component quality.

Working within a team of design engineers, this role is based from our clients UK headquarters in Bradford. On offer is a salary of c. £40k per annum depending on experience plus a range of benefits, including:

Duties of the role:
  • Generate design concepts for solutions to specific functional requirements.
  • Document design concept assumptions, design trade-offs, and calculations within the project design file.
  • Use Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA) techniques to identify technical risks.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for project gate reviews.
  • Contribute to planning design activities with the project manager.
  • Capture project technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support to the publications department in creation of product manuals, build books, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Adopt New Product Development (NPD) process and tools throughout projects.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the NPD process.

About you:
You'll be an experienced user of CAD systems to generate models and drawings and hold a formal technical qualification to degree level, or equivalent, in a mechanical engineering discipline.

Technical skills requirements:
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance principles and standards (ISO).
  • Knowledge of material properties and standards.
  • Knowledge of machining methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of configuration management (BoM), and Material Resource Planning (MRP) packages.
  • Technical knowledge of packaging machinery.
  • Technical knowledge of sensor technologies/solutions.
  • Technical knowledge of electrical drive systems.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical transmission systems.
  • Technical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
