Claims Administration Assistant

We are seeking a Claims Administration Assistant to provide temporary administrative support in the handling of insurance claims within our Financial Services department. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient claims processing and ensuring the council's insurance arrangements are managed effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Ensure complete and accurate data entry related to claims on the council’s claims database system.
- Provide administrative support in the entry and processing of insurance claims, adhering to practice directions and corporate guidelines.
- Assist in the registration of claims with external agencies, including the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU).
- Liaise with the Claims Team, Claims Litigation section, and other interested parties on claims-related issues as directed.
- Respond to queries from officers, external organisations, and the public on claims matters, providing necessary support and data.
- Handle telephone enquiries, respond to voicemails, and assist in other communication tasks.
- Raise accurate and timely payments within the council’s Financial Management System (FMS) and assist in other financial tasks as directed.
- Regularly report to the Deputy Insurance Manager with progress reports and details of significant issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing professionally with a variety of individuals from different disciplines and organisations.
- Ability to meet deadlines, targets, and objectives in line with corporate and legal priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other computerised systems.
- Experience in administrative tasks within a financial ledger system.
- Knowledge of techniques used to redact information for disclosure.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably within an insurance and claims setting, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
