We are currently working on behalf of a housing association to recruit for an Income Assistant. The role will be supporting a project within their Rent and Service Charge Team to resolve overpayments in rent. The role is entirely remote.

Responsibilities of the Income Assistant:

  • Supporting the Rent and Service Charge Team with handling overpayments in rent
  • Calculating overpayments
  • Liaising with customers to notify of overpayments and explain resolutions
  • Producing and sending out letters surrounding rent accounts
  • Processing refunds
  • Producing invoices
  • Liaising with DWP and Local Authority to notify of charges made in error
  • Updating accurate information on the Orchard housing system
  • Responding to internal and external customer queries relating to rent overpayments

Requirements of the Income Assistant:

  • Previous experience working within rents, service charges, council tax or benefits
  • Social housing knowledge and experience
  • Ability to utilise Excel
  • Strong literacy and customer service skills
