Major Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business in the UK, which is looking for an Interim Materials Planning Manager

As an Interim Materials Planning Manager, you will ensure the timely and controlled availability of packaging materials and products to support the production function

There is a full-time on-site role with the flexibility to work from home on a Friday

Key Responsibilities of an Interim Materials Planning Manager

  • Develop, lead and manage the Material Planning team - Drive the team's best practice, appraisal, mid-year reviews and personal development plans
  • Development of supplier performance monitoring systems and continuous improvement programmes
  • Review all stock replenishment systems & processes with continuous improvement methodology
  • First escalation point for poor supplier performance/supply shortage
  • Develop & maintain stock replenishment KPI Dashboard and communicate to key stakeholders
  • Placing contracts (4- 13 Weeks Demand) & call-offs (1-3-week demand) to cover forecasted volume and production plans
  • Collaborating with Supply planning, Demand planning, PLM & Commercial to ensure all information is correct and present to enable call-offs and contracts to be accurate and timely
  • Full end-to-end management of suppliers covering short- & long-term demand, expedition of materials where appropriate, chasing of short or late deliveries and any other queries that could arise in the day-to-day management of the suppliers.
  • Support S&OP / Mini S&OP process where necessary.

Skills required to be a successful Interim Materials Planning Manager

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing
  • Leadership experience
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data in a simple and easy-to-understand format
  • Experience in scheduling, planning or a related area, with strong knowledge of SAP/ERP/MRP systems
