Manpower is currently seeking an interim Packaging Technology Manager (Metal & Aerosols), to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Seacroft, Leeds. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to 61,000k per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

BACKGROUND
The Deodorants category is a key part of the Unilever Personal Care Business Group, with a family of Power Brands - Rexona, Dove, Axe - which are critical growth drivers of the company.
Packaging design plays a highly prominent role in innovation & category growth plans. Aerosol packaging is a key capability to drive competitive advantage and growth opportunities through the development of consumer preferred and sustainable experiences.

The Aerosol Can Technology Manager is a key role within the Packaging Development team and is responsible for delivering the R&D programme for aerosol cans, in line with category strategy. The main objective of this role is to develop & deliver aerosol cans which are both desirable for consumer use, and safe & sustainable throughout their lifecycle.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the delivery of the aerosol can technical roadmap and maintain alignment with the long-term innovation and strategy programs.
  • Develop & execute the value optimisation and supply resilience programs for aerosol technology area, to ensure continuous improvement in input costs and security of supply.
  • Deliver the aerosol can sustainability activities from the Unilever Climate Transition Action Plan.
  • Maintain close working relationship with aerosol can suppliers, fostering the flow of technical developments and innovations.
  • Develop & foster strong relationship with key cross functional teams & partners (eg, Supply Chain) to enable effective & efficient project deployment.
  • Ensure technical rigour through embedding packaging functional excellence & strong risk management in all projects.
  • Leverage data & digital approaches to drive efficiency & impact in our can development & qualification programmes.


ALL ABOUT YOU
KEY SKILLS

  • Qualifications: desirable bachelor's degree in physical science / engineering
  • Fully operational in R&D packaging development
  • Fully operational in Metal canister or Aerosol can development, preferably with personal care experience.
  • Strong focus on execution and attention to details, with aerosol safety prominent in your approach.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years relevant working experience in Aerosol packaging (or related discipline, eg Supply Chain). Personal care experience is preferable.
  • Demonstrable experience of project leadership and delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with external suppliers, building networks & relationships, and delivering through partnerships.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams, with the drive and ability to control own work programme and make own decisions when required.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to interact across a range of functions, external partners.
