Payroll Administrator
Location: Leeds area (office-based)
Salary: 34,000 - 36,000
Working Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm (flexible to 9:00am - 5:30pm)

About the Role
An established and growing UK business is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join its internal HR and Payroll team. With a workforce of over 1,600 employees and further growth expected, this is a key role in ensuring timely and compliant payroll processing.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will have experience managing high-volume, multi-frequency payrolls and be confident navigating complex pay structures. You'll also provide administrative support to the HR team and be a go-to person for payroll-related queries.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing
  • Deliver accurate and timely weekly and monthly payrolls for two company entities
  • Process a variety of payments, including overtime, bonuses, and other adjustments
  • Maintain payroll records, managing employee lifecycle changes (starters, leavers, pay changes)
Payroll Queries & Compliance
  • Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and managers
  • Resolve discrepancies involving tax, benefits, or pension contributions
  • Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with current legislation
  • Support audits and maintain up-to-date documentation
HR Administrative Support
  • Process onboarding and exit paperwork
  • Set up access cards and timekeeping profiles
  • Maintain HR systems with accurate employee data
  • Generate regular reports on headcount, absence, and other metrics
  • Assist with general administration (e.g., filing, ordering supplies)
  • Support recruitment-related processes including internal referral schemes and temp-to-perm transitions
What You'll Need
  • Experience processing in-house payroll (not managed/ outsourced payroll)
  • Processing volume payroll - 300+
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and best practices
  • Experience working with both salaried and hourly-paid staff
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to cover for the Payroll Manager when required
