Elevation Recruitment Group are looking for an experienced Construction Buyer to join a growing commercial team based in Leeds to play a key role in delivering high-quality construction projects. If you have a solid understanding of materials procurement (especially bricks, blocks and lintels) and enjoy working collaboratively across site and office teams, this could be the perfect next step for you.Duties & Responsibilities of the Construction Buyer:
- Purchasing materials, supplies, and plant in line with project schedules and budgets
- Processing material and plant requisitions and placing orders with approved suppliers
- Sourcing and negotiating competitive quotes from suppliers
- Chasing outstanding deliveries and expediting orders
- Managing the hire and off-hire of plant and equipment
- Liaising with commercial and site teams on lead times and delivery planning
- Identifying new suppliers and negotiating market-leading rates
- Maintaining procurement records and approving relevant invoices
- Ensuring care and proper use of company equipment and tools
Key Skills & Experience required:
- Previous experience in buying or selling within the construction sector
- Solid understanding of materials and plant supply (bricks, blocks, lintels preferred)
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
- A great communicator with an eye for detail
