Production Operations Manager

Purpose of job

An individual with excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task is essential. Your primary role will be overseeing all Production lines and cells along with managing in house manufacturing activities. Together with overseeing and working with our Quality systems and procedures. An input into many other areas of the business will also be necessary.

Production activities -Specific responsibilities

• Ensure that Machines and attachments are built on time and in full to sales orders and sales forecast plans.
• Ensure that Machines and attachments are built to the required specification and Quality standards.
• Introduce BOM changes.
• Report Daily Production build KPIs.
• Management of production & Quality staff and operatives as required to meet the business needs.
• Recruitment of production & Quality staff and operatives as required to meet the business needs.
• Ensure production & quality staff and operatives have an up-to-date individual skills matrix, re-viewed on an annual basis. Targets agreed and put in place to meet the needs of the business.
• High-light and prioritise improved production efficiency opportunities with management team.
• Manage production unit layout and process changes / modifications, including new tooling projects.
• Introduction of production efficiency opportunities together with any required production unit layout and process changes / modifications, including new tooling projects.
• Co-ordinate the Picking and Packing spares orders.
• Organise the packaging and containerisation of goods for export markets.
• High-light and prioritise improved production efficiency opportunities with management.
• Ensure the Tufftruk Leek premises are fire safe and secured end the end of each shift. Perform the role of a factory Key Holder as required.
• Ensure cut in numbers of changes and component introductions are recorded.

• Organise pre-production builds within the production lines / cells. Monitor pre-production builds and provide feedback.

• Ensure RED TAG items are reworked and managed back into the production stock.

Purchasing -Specific responsibilities

• High-light and Progress concerning purchase orders and works orders.
• Progress works orders - Machines and Components.
• Progress works orders Fabrication, Weld and Paint.
• Progress purchase orders as required.
• High-light and prioritise cost reduction opportunities with management team.

Quality activities -Specific responsibilities

• Ensure all current SOP's are kept up to date.
• Develop and introduce new build procedures and SOP's as required.
• Report monthly supplier Quality KPI's.
• Ensure that Machines and attachments are built to the required specification and Quality standards.
• Produce quality reports for faulty items.
• Submit warranty claims for faulty parts on suppliers as required.
• Chase QR's and Parts warranty claims on suppliers to a conclusion.
• Investigate RED TAGS and organise corrective actions.
• Raise returns notes for quality issues.
• Produce inspection reports and sample approval forms for parts as required.
• Support new product development as required.
• Ensure all assembly tools are keep within calibration.

Logistics activities -Specific responsibilities

• Ensure product is packed correctly, together with associated paperwork checks prior dispatch to UK and Export customers.

HR & Health and Safety activities -Specific responsibilities

• Organise annual PAT testing for Tufftruk sites.
• Organise annual Lifting equipment testing and new installs.
• Organise annual Factory racking safety checks.
• Organise equipment repairs and replacement justifications.
• Organise fire records, carryout weekly fire alarm checks.
• Organise job risk assessments.
• Organise workwear, factory inductions for new starters, contractors or work placements.
• Ensure all production operatives have training and signed off job procedures and risk assessments in place.

After sales / Sales & Service activities -Specific responsibilities

• Support customer accounts and queries when required.

• Achieve production machine builds to a pre-determined build schedule.
• To be proficient in the use of SAGE.
• To be proficient in the use of Microsoft office programs.
• Quality and efficiency of work carried out.
• Accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
• Accuracy of stock.
• Product knowledge and understanding.
• Management and prioritization of workload.
• Delivery of improved production efficiency opportunities.
• Delivery of the agreed cost reductions.
