What is the role?

We are recruiting for a Group Carbon and Sustainability Reporting Manager to join our Group Sustainability team. Reporting to the Group Sustainability Director, the position has two key areas of focus: supporting the business in delivering our Carbon Transition Plan, and managing sustainability data capture and reporting. The role will be highly varied with interaction across all group functions and operating businesses, and external stakeholders. We would expect candidates to have around a wealth of relevant experience, with a background in sustainability from similar sector organisations or other relevant expertise.


Primary Responsibilities

Delivering our carbon transition plans
  • Working closely with the Group Sustainability Director and lead functions, in the delivery and progression of our Net Zero Carbon strategy and Transition Plans as part of our Sustainability strategy.
  • Tracking and analysing performance against our carbon targets, producing internal reports, modelling future business scenarios and emissions profiles for all carbon scopes 1,2 and 3, advising on reduction opportunities, and supporting the business units.
  • Providing carbon expertise, to include whole life carbon, embodied carbon measurement frameworks, tools and standards.
  • Facilitating the annual GHG reporting process ensuring adherence to timelines, provision of data from third parties, and quality control of data and improvement planning.
  • Supporting business units in carbon reduction, and supply chain engagement, and representing the business externally on working groups.
  • Preparing TCFD reports and supporting on climate risk and resilience requirements.
Sustainability data management and reporting
  • Managing and improving sustainability data collection, ensuring high quality sustainability data capture systems and controls are in place at Group level, supporting and working with the operating business and external providers on improvements.
  • Producing sustainability data reports for internal sustainability performance monitoring, and external reporting.
  • Managing the assurance and verification activities for non-financial metrics, and internal controls required to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Managing the collation of information to support relevant disclosures and benchmark performance. This will include investor ESG rating, CDP submission, reporting standards, and improvement planning.
What experience do I need?
  • Sustainability related experience relevant to the role, in either construction or reporting fields. The ability to apply your knowledge to our business.
  • Experience in carbon management, to include net zero carbon strategies, and transition plans, from the building / construction sector or a relevant industry.
  • Experience of scope 3 reporting, whole life carbon, embodied carbon measurements, tools and standards, relevant to construction.
  • Proven high degree of expertise in sustainability data management, collection systems and internal controls to ensure high quality, accurate information and reports. Familiarity with third party supplied data management systems.
  • The ability to interpret data and produce high quality sustainability performance reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Experience of sustainability reporting frameworks, responding to ESG indices, and CDP.
  • Relevant degree level education, to include sustainability, environmental economics, finance, data management, reporting.
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly computer literate with advanced excel, data management skillset, understanding of sustainability software models, and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, and presentation skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences, and work professionally at all levels.
  • Ability to work with high productivity in a hybrid work environment.
