Transport Officer required for our client based in Glenfield
Team: Highways & Transportation, Transport Operations, Passenger Fleet
Location: County Hall
Reports To: Transport Manager(s)
Staff Managed: Drivers and Passenger Assistants(day-to-day)
Works With: Council staff, local councils, the public, contractors, advisors, other organizations, and national/local groups.
What the Job Does:
Helps make sure passenger transport services run well, efficiently, and follow the law.
Main Things You'll Do:
- Make sure transport services help the people of Leicestershire.
- Work with other groups (like charities and private companies) and talk to different people (managers, staff, parents, etc.).
- Organize vehicles and transport activities to be as efficient as possible.
- Write simple reports when needed.
- Help improve how the team works and plan for the future.
- Support the team to do better and feel good about their work.
- Help hire, train, and manage drivers and Passenger Assistants.
- Train drivers and Passenger Assistants to improve services and help them develop.
- Manage a team of drivers and Passenger Assistants to make sure everything runs smoothly.
- Make sure everyone follows safety rules for passengers and transport. Report any accidents.
- Review how drivers and Passenger Assistants are doing to help them grow in their jobs.
- Lead meetings with drivers and Passenger Assistnats and write updates for them.
- Find and share information about transport with colleagues and the public.
- Give advice on planning the best transport routes.
- Check transport buildings to make sure they are safe and well-maintained.
- Check vehicles for problems and work with the vehicle maintenance team. Follow all safety rules and transport laws.
- Prepare cost estimates for transport services for other groups.
- Give advice on the right seats and safety equipment for vehicles.
- Help out the Transport Manager or fill in for other team members when needed.
- Look for new ways to earn money and manage costs.
- Keep information safe and report any security issues.
