Aspire People are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a SEN school in Leicester. This is an exciting opportunity to provide 1:1 support to secondary students who require tailored assistance in managing their emotions and behaviour in a nurturing and supportive environment.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in a SEN school, you will work closely with students who have additional social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your responsibilities will include:

Offering 1:1 support to students aged 11+ with SEMH needs, ensuring they remain engaged and focused in class

Assisting in developing strategies to manage challenging behaviours and promote positive emotional regulation

Helping students with personal development, social skills, and academic progress

Supporting the classroom teacher in delivering individualised learning plans

Building strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and understood

Requirements:

Previous experience working in a UK secondary school, ideally in a SEN or SEMH role

A solid understanding of SEMH needs and the strategies required to support students effectively

Patience, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure

A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting students' academic and emotional well-being

Ability to work as part of a team with teachers and other support staff
